a canvas sky

just like the sunrise,
you’re molten yellows carving their way through a pitch black sky
and foggy clouds that appear in view as the sun rays tickle their blues.
shy pinks and purples fighting for residency in a sky too black,
welcoming a new beginning with all of its softness.
i made friends with your palette
and embraced your loneliest shades
yet your blues crawled in, uninvited
with a pair of blacks in either facades
and before i knew it;
the yellows were suddenly angry reds,
the pinks were no longer shy.
and just like the sunset,
you fell in love with dusk right before i could bathe in your colours
leaving me reminiscing on a sky that was once mine.
