About Us

SUGARFREETALKS is an Egyptian non-profit organisation established on September 15, 2018, by Nour Sarhan. Rooted in the SWANA (South West Asia and North Africa) region, we are dedicated to creating inclusive spaces where artists can authentically express themselves and practice their crafts.

What We Do

Since our inception, SUGARFREETALKS has served as an intellectual and creative hub, offering in-depth articles, reflective pieces, and interactive content that explore:

  • Mental Health and Well-being: Open, empathetic discussions on anxiety, family dynamics, and personal resilience—creating a safe space for vulnerable conversations
  • Socio-Political Commentary: Thoughtful engagement with historical, contemporary issues, and current social dialogues
  • Arts and Creative Expression: Celebrating cultural heritage, exploring creative processes, and amplifying diverse artistic voices across the region
  • Cultural and Spiritual Reflections: Nuanced explorations of religious traditions, regional observances, and the spiritual dimensions of SWANA culture
  • Love, Relationships, and Self-Discovery: From romantic connections in modern times to the art of self-love, we localise universal experiences within our cultural context

      Our Name, Our Philosophy

The name 'SUGARFREETALKS' embodies our commitment to honest, unfiltered, and substantive conversations. We believe in depth over superficiality—in discussions that matter, resonate, and inspire genuine connection. Like a sugar-free dialogue, our content strips away the superficial sweetness to reveal authentic truths and meaningful insights.

      Our Visual Identity

Our logo is a deliberate fusion of modernism and forward-thinking design, reflecting our core values through every visual element.

Drawing inspiration from 'Bauhaus' principles, the logo emphasises geometric shapes, clean lines, and functional design—mirroring our commitment to unfiltered, substantive discussions. The structured, modular aesthetic speaks to a well-organised and purposeful platform.

The 'Futurism'-influenced typography conveys dynamism, progress, and innovation. Bold and energetic, it reflects our forward-looking perspectives and our mission to create progressive, inclusive spaces that break from traditional norms.

      Our distinctive colour scheme combines:

      • Prime Colours and RGB: Representing fundamental creativity, artistic expression, and the diverse aspects of art and communication we foster in our digital-native presence, and the broad spectrum of possibilities we offer.
        • Black & White: Providing contrast, clarity, and timeless sophistication—reinforcing our "sugar-free" commitment to authentic, foundational truths.

Together, these elements articulate SUGARFREETALKS as progressive and modern, artistic and creative, authentic and inclusive, dynamic and engaging. Our logo is not merely a visual identifier—it's a concise statement of our brand philosophy.

        Our Community

We write for young adults and teenagers across the SWANA region who seek content that speaks to their cultural identity, personal growth, and lived experiences. Our readers include:

        • Individuals navigating modern relationships and self-discovery within our cultural context
        • Those interested in religious spirituality and regional traditions
        • Artists and creatives seeking inclusive platforms for expression
        • Anyone looking for guidance on mental well-being, family dynamics, and personal development

        Our Platform

Through our blog, social media presence, and community initiatives like ArtsCon and other in-person events, we've built a thoughtful, culturally sensitive, and community-oriented platform. We are more than content creators—we are a space for meaningful dialogue, artistic support, and collective growth.
