binocular delusions.

time stopped when I was frozen in a delusion I lived in alone;
for I always saw the shimmering sun on the throne of the landscape in front of me
while others were soaking in the blues of the nights they endured all alone.
flowers blossomed wherever I went,
leaving a flowing river of spring-scented blooms
but there they stood on the other side of the river;
those who found shelter nowhere but in the faint flames kindled behind their ribcage.
how was it for them, when their winters were too harsh to bear?
the binoculars I glued my eyes to
melted the hideous world away
and reformed a delusion full of wonders.
I wonder how it felt
for those whose hearts ached upon every beat.
