Are You Okay?

i don’t know what okay stands for in your dictionary,

if it means getting out of bed at 2pm

legs shaking like a leaf on a December night,

eyes too blurred to make sense of what i see,

then i'm okay

if okay is a synonym for my hands slowly reaching for a cup of coffee because it’s now the only thing that makes me feel the warmth of summer

or if the pounding of my heart is the only sign that im still alive

then im okay

you probably ask it with a worried look on your face wondering why it took me too long to make my mouth utter an answer

so i look at you 

with a smile on my face

“I am, thanks for asking!”
